WE REALLY CAN PUT AN END TO THIS TRAGIC SITUATION AT LAST!
THE REASON YOU’RE BEING HERE IS SO VITALLY IMPORTANT IS BECAUSE IT IS THE INSIGHT THAT YOU AND THE PUBLIC AT LARGE WILL GAIN AT THIS WEBSITE THAT WILL MAKE THE SALVATION OF OUR UNWANTED PETS POSSIBLE. FURTHERMORE, THE INFORMATION YOU WILL NEED TO HELP US SAVE THE ANIMALS IS NOT AVAILABLE FROM ANY OTHER SOURCE. SO PLEASE STAY WITH US.
The sad fact is that there is a great deal more to the problem of pet overpopulation than meets the eye. The issues surrounding our surplus homeless pets have become so convoluted and complicated and confounding, that fully understanding the situation may place a strain on your credulity and require quite a bit of your time and attention to fully grasp. But, since you are sincere about wanting to see an end to this needless killing of our surplus pets, I am sure you will agree that whatever time you are required to spend here will be time well spent.
To grasp the difficult situation we face, there are two basic concepts that you will need to understand. The first is that there really is a readily workable plan by which we can turn all animal control shelters into “no kill” shelters and that this plan can be carried out very quickly, easily, inexpensively and humanely. That is the part that is easy for me to explain and for you to understand. In fact, we can take care of that little matter right here and now. But then you will be asking yourself why, since the problem of pet overpopulation is so readily correctable, it has never been corrected. And that is where we come to the very much more difficult-to-explain issues. But if you would like now to read about our highly feasible plan that will both prevent the animals’ deaths and save the taxpayers’ much money, please click here.
Having read about our “Spay Only” Project…..
…..you are now probably wondering why, after twenty years of trying, I have not yet been able to have this plan implemented. Well, that is where the very challenging aspect of this whole matter comes into the picture. At least it was very challenging for me to come to terms with and probably will be for you.
When, through my investigations, I had been able to gain some insight into what I had found to be a number of very perplexing problems, I decided to write a book in which I would attempt to clarify these animal issues for others who, like myself, wanted an explanation for the fact that nothing substantial was being done to prevent the tragic deaths of our homeless cats and dogs. I named my book, “Waiting for the Dawn.” It is right here on this website and it is FREE. You can download it in PDF format and read it directly or print it out. I hope you are a person who enjoys reading, for it is long. Of course, you don’t have to read all of it to get a pretty good idea about what the animals have been up against in the past and still will be up against in the future, should we fail in our mission.
There is another FREE book on this website that I wrote after learning that there are still some animal shelters that sell their dogs and cats to the biomedical research laboratories, where they are subjected to the most horrible abuses imaginable. The title of that book is “Saving Our Pets from Vivisection.” It is not pleasant reading, but those who want to involve themselves in trying to save those most unfortunate of all of our pets should definitely consider reading it.
But getting back to “Waiting for the Dawn.” You will find the book very long and may find some parts less interesting than others, but, if you want to get an in-depth and comprehensive understanding of the entire situation that must be dealt with, I would encourage you to read as much of it as you have time for or at least to skim it through and read the parts that capture your interest.
“Waiting for the Dawn” has its peculiarities due to the fact that it was written over a period of twenty years. Statements made in the earlier chapters are often contradicted by statements made in the later chapters; for, with the passage of time, I was constantly gaining new insights and new revelations. For instance, I said in Chapter 3, “The majority of the dogs and cats that experience undue suffering and premature death are therefore victimized by man not so much deliberately as inadvertently – through omission rather than commission – for it is certainly in the interest of no one to have these particular animals born just to suffer and die.” Here I was gravely in error; for I was later to learn that those canines and felines that we enjoy as companion animals are exploited species every bit as much as are the livestock, the fur-bearing animals and the many other more obviously exploited species. I am not going to tell you right here and now exactly who all of those are who engage in exploiting the unwanted cats and doges, for you would probably not believe me and would think I am some kind of a nut for even suggesting such a thing. Since there are actually five or six categories of people, none of whom you would suspect of being anti-animal, that participate in the exploitation of our surplus pets, you will probably be less shaken by this information if it is revealed to you in gradual stages as you read the book. So, while you may find “Waiting for the Dawn” surprising and even shocking, I am sure you will agree with my conclusions – especially since you can check these things out in your won community, just as I did in mine. What I can tell you is that, like almost every other problem associated with modern-day life, the animals’ problems have, essentially, to do with money and politics.
Unless we can have an informed public that cares enough about this situation to organize and then to take the necessary actions to put an end to the outrageous abuses, they will continue to be perpetuated throughout the entire next century, just as they have throughout the entire past century. Only after you have read the book will you understand why I say that you are the animals’ only hope. PLEASE DON’T LET THEM DOWN!
In the event that you are not in the mood to do much reading, you might want just to read the long and comprehensive letter I wrote to the governor or California in 2002 (pp.226-229) which sums things up pretty well. This might, however, leave you with more questions than answers or cause you to feel needlessly discouraged. The important thing to know is that, if a large enough number of us cooperate and if we persevere, WE CAN FIND A WAY!
WE THE PEOPLE CAN WIN! WE CAN SAVE OUR PETS!
